Soy Local Centro Historico

We booked through Agoda for the night of March 19, 2026, and checked in around 4:00 PM. We had two beers and some Pringles at the property, paid for when we left, then went to explore the city. When we got back around 9:30 PM, there were cockroaches in the bed and hair that clearly wasn't ours. We killed several other insects in the room, and the towels looked dirty and stained. By 10:00 PM, after barely half an hour in the room, we had to leave and find somewhere else at the last minute, late at night in a foreign city. We contacted the property through Agoda for a full refund, which we believe was justified. Instead, they offered COP 42,500, roughly $13 CAD. We refused. The place wasn't fit for guests. The receptionist with curly hair was incredibly rude, and the place had a bad smell that wouldn't go away. We felt extremely unsafe when random people knocked on our door at night. Staff did nothing, and we couldn't sleep. They also charged us extra on arrival. I would not recommend staying here.

The location is perfect for Cartagena's walled historical area, and the place is nice overall. Staff are helpful and friendly. The bedroom is basically a loft upstairs in the suite, with a low ceiling.

We booked two rooms for three nights. The hotel is well placed for visiting the walled part of the city, but outside its center, which was useful with the crazy traffic. There are several ways to reach it, so Uber and airport shuttles could get there easily. The rooms were clean and had kitchenettes. Staff were great, and there's an elevator. Our room on the fourth floor had a corner balcony where we could watch the street go by. The shower in our room was exceptional, with great pressure and plenty of hot water, though apparently the other room had no hot water. The bed was just okay, and there's a small, shallow rooftop pool with great views. There is a bit of a party scene outside, so I'm not sure about staying with family. Still, I recommend it.
