We often come back to this secluded spot with our dog, Cooper, who is made to feel very welcome. Hotel Boato is magical, with cabins, great food, a tucked-away beach, and a bar right by the water. It's a favorite with Colombians and international guests alike, and the area is beautiful, a true Colombian experience. If you want to visit Guatapé, ask for a tuktuk ride for a more authentic trip into town. Five stars.

The food was a pleasant surprise given the hotel's location. The fresh ceviche was delicious, the pizzas had crisp crusts and fresh toppings, and the steak was generous, juicy, and cooked just how I wanted. We also loved having breakfast delivered to our balcony each morning. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and the hotel was incredible. The rooms, called “Lars,” were spacious with a spectacular Lagoon view. Staff lit the balcony fire pit every evening between 6 and 7 p.m., and the jacuzzi got wonderfully hot. Service worked smoothly through WhatsApp: the front desk brought food, drinks, or anything else we needed as soon as possible, and arranged amazing massages, tuk tuk rides, and jet ski trips. We flew into Medellin late at night and were unsure about transport, but the hotel recommended Camilo. He picked us up at the terminal, handled the winding roads expertly, and gave us tips for Guatape. He was a legend. We'll be back!

The room had a comfortable bed, a decent hot shower, and good Wi-Fi. We also had a great night in a lovely setting for our wedding anniversary. Our bags were taken to the room while we checked in, and parking was easy after the drive down the dirt road. You'll definitely need a rental car with decent ground clearance. We booked two jet skis at check-in, and they were ready about half an hour later, loads of fun. Dinner and breakfast came to the room at no extra cost. Dinner was pretty good, breakfast was excellent, and the portions were huge. The tub with jets took about 30 minutes to fill, but was still a nice experience, especially with the free bonfire. The mini bar was a little pricey, so bring your own alcohol if you want a drink, since it's the only other option. Hard to find fault.

The service deserves six stars. Our little cabin had awesome views, and the pizza was so good we ordered it two nights in a row. A really great hotel, highly recommend it.

We had a great time here. Every room has a lake view, the location is incredible, and the staff were so attentive. No complaints at all.
