Hotel Isla Lizamar

Most of the staff were friendly, and we enjoyed the kayaks and the smooth swing. But the stay was a mess, and the owner behaved in a way I've never experienced before. We booked one night at the last minute because the Booking ratings seemed okay. We were the only family staying in a place with more than 20 rooms. The location isn't great either: you look toward a nearby island, so you don't get that wide ocean view or island feeling. The grounds smelled and were noisy, with the nearby Flamingo pool and a generator from the Telecom tower next door. Some things looked newly bought, including an Instagram-style fake chopper with flowers, while floors and rooms were poorly maintained. My son cut his toe in the pool on a broken tile. We had a special translator girl with us to help communicate from English to Spanish, but that didn't make things painless. Our beds were missing two sheets. We messaged the translator, and 15 minutes later she came with a staff member to tell us the sheets should be on the bed. We'd already taken sheets from another room. The next day we said we didn't feel we'd got value for money. The owner, the mistress, was very displeased. We got a reasonable discount, but were told we should write a good review. She then complained about my wife for having complaints, which made things worse. Booking later canceled our booking, so we couldn't leave a review there, hence this Google review. I'd tell the owner to retire or sell the place so someone else can make it a little paradise again. Cocoliso, Borabora, or Isla del sol would be 1000% better. Also, my son cut his too in the swimming due to a broken tile. Our beds were missing two sheets, and the owner handled our complaints badly.
