YAY Sustainable

My girlfriend and I messaged them on WhatsApp to ask about coming for lunch as day guests. They were very welcoming and let us use the pool and river access at no extra cost. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained, with a really impressive focus on sustainability. The food was a highlight, especially with so many vegetarian and vegan choices. It deserves a place on HappyCow. Great service and a stunning natural setting too. We’d absolutely recommend it and are already looking forward to returning for a few nights.

Even with the nature park closed, there was plenty to do during our great family stay at Yay. We spent an afternoon at El Rio hostel, which is a beautiful place too, and enjoyed the yoga class. The food and service are excellent, and you don’t need to leave if you’d rather stay put. We recommend it to everyone!

The bamboo-clay huts are wonderful to wake up in, surrounded by the sounds of nature. There’s a well-maintained natural pool, garden, riverside beach, and yoga classes. The staff were attentive, and since they knew we liked trying new foods, they brought us different fruits to taste. We spent five nights at YaY sustainable and enjoyed every minute. Tobi at reception showed our kids around and taught them about plants, animals, and fruits. They loved it and kept coming back to chat with him. We’ve seen a lot of eco hostals, but this place really lives sustainability. Absolutely recommend!

The natural setting is stunning, and we’ve never stayed anywhere so connected to nature. We spent four nights at Yay Sustainable Hotel / Jungle Oasis near Santa Marta and Tayrona National Park, with beautiful photo spots all over the property. Their sustainability concept impressed us too: food is grown or raised there or sourced directly from local farmers and fishermen. They have chickens, pigs, fish, herbs, and fruit trees, and the meals taste fresh and authentic. At first, our stay got off to a rough start because of an overbooking caused by Expedia/Check24. We had booked three rooms but only got two on arrival, which was a real shock and affected our mood. The team sorted it out within an hour. They made an empty staff room ready for my father, treated all of us to dinner as an apology, and by the next day we had the three huts next to each other that we’d booked. Morning yoga was a wonderful way to start each day, and our trips to Tayrona National Park were unforgettable. Thanks to Tatiana and the owner, both of whom speak excellent English, which made things much easier for us as Germans. It was an intense, unforgettable stay. I’m convinced they’ll resolve any problem with guests’ happiness as the top priority. Thanks again, we’d absolutely return.
