Ground Road Native Place

The location works well for visiting the beaches around San Luis, but it’s about 20 minutes from downtown and taxis and buses are hard to find. There was a problem with my reservation because the hotel representative said Expedia had quoted a different price from their rate. It took 30 minutes to sort out. I was given a clean room with a shared bathroom.

Mrs. Edula, who manages the place, is so friendly. It feels homey, and the accommodation is private and secure. The apartment has a kitchen, a refrigerator, and utensils if you want to cook. Best of all, Riki Cay is only a 10-minute walk away.

We arrived to find that half of the apartment we’d booked more than a month ahead had been rented to other people, with five adults being squeezed into one room. The owner’s husband then became extremely violent. A terrible experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

The house is spotless and close to the beaches in San Luis. You can catch a bus right outside, either toward the city center or down to the southern tip of the island. Ms. Édula is kind and always willing to help.
