WAKA Hotel Rural

We like coming here for a short break from Bogota and a chance to unwind. The rooms are clean and nice, and the friendly staff are always helpful. You can stay on the grounds the whole time if you want, since the restaurant has a good menu and serves high-quality food. Saturday is pizza night, which we enjoy.

The owners called me with excuses, repeated that it was my parents' word against theirs, and didn't even offer an apology. What upset me most was how they handled the incident, leaving me disappointed and embarrassed that I'd recommended the place. I can't feel relaxed or trust the people here, and I won't recommend it to anyone. My parents, who travel widely, were visiting the beautiful little town of Honda and had $400 USD stolen from their hotel room. The owners suggested it was my parents' fault and that they'd misplaced the money, then did nothing about it. I used to like the place because it was peaceful and pet-friendly, and thought my parents would have the same experience. It's unfortunate this happened, but their response made it worse.

The farm breakfast was good, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortable for a nature setting, and there are lovely grounds, a nice pool, and a large plantation at the back. It’s close to Honda, yet tucked into nature where you can find some calm. The two especially friendly, playful puppies, Yuca and Coco, were a highlight. There’s no hot water, and the mosquitoes are fierce with few places to escape them, though I don't blame the hotel for that. Did I mention how friendly the doggies are?

Would I return? Absolutely, in a heartbeat. Mrs Amanda and her staff welcomed me at waka rural hotel and set me up in a beautiful suite that mixed a semi-modern feel with a rustic one. The bed was very comfortable, with a mosquito net to protect my sleep. The food there was delicious, and I also highly recommend the fresh-caught fish restaurants beside the Magdalena river.
