The beach water is crystal clear, and you can easily see the underwater ecosystem. The scenery is incredible, and the Puerto Caracol community is full of wonderful, friendly people who are eager to help tourists visiting their land. A magnificent experience.

The island is beautiful, but I'd recommend visiting for the day and returning to Coveña or Tulu, since everything closes by 4 pm and there's nothing to do after that. I went for two days hoping to relax and clear my head. We stayed at the Villa Lucila hostel in Puerto Caracol, thinking it would be a nice, quiet place. I came back terrified and very anxious.

I left Puerto Caracol very happy with the stay. It's in a community of islanders who offer lodging, and it's one of the more affordable options on the island. The rooms are comfortable and suited to the region, not luxurious, but they have what you need for basic comfort. Service was good, and the food was very tasty, with generous servings and fair prices. I highly recommend Puerto Caracol.
