Hotel Alcaravan Medellín

I booked seven nights but left on the evening of day six. The rooms are cramped, and the hotel was a terrible experience. They only give you small handwashing soaps as toiletries, with no shampoo, shower gel, or conditioner. At check-in, the receptionist said my room had only a wall fan, not even a ceiling fan, and that air conditioning would cost extra. My booking on my phone clearly included air conditioning, so she gave me the remote. But at 10:00 pm that night, the reception switched it off. Another receptionist was rude when I asked why. She insisted my room didn't include air conditioning because her computer didn't show it, even after I showed her my booking. She said she hadn't given me the remote and that another employee had. I told her she was on duty and had switched it off, so she was responsible. After 10 to 15 minutes of arguing, they turned it back on for the night and said their boss would speak with me the next day. The following morning, someone from administration repeated that their system didn't show air conditioning. I said I didn't want to discuss it further and would describe what happened in Google reviews. He asked if housekeeping could take the remote from my room, and I said they could if they wanted. Later, the fan's oscillation cord broke, so it wouldn't direct air toward the bed where I was sleeping. Reception sent a housekeeper with a replacement, but its attachment didn't fit. She offered to move me to another room, but it didn't have the city view I had booked, so I declined. She eventually found another wall fan that could oscillate. The hotel's reply to my review said I should understand the conditions of my booking hadn't been met. Don't tell me what's important to review. I check everything before booking, and the hotel should look at its staff's behavior and its failure to provide standard toiletries. Would you claim some rooms come without toiletries? I chose the most economical rate with air conditioning through a third-party booking app because your website couldn't offer that deal. It felt like you made excuses and lied to get more money. Your staff seem money hungry, especially when they see foreigners have booked. The reply was just the usual copy-paste line about taking feedback into account. You're not going to improve anything. The hotel is a joke. 👎🏼

The rooms were decent and clean, with a TV, and the central location puts you near lots of restaurants. If breakfast is included, though, you can choose only three menu items. They charge for anything extra, and don't tell you until after you've eaten. I was disappointed.

We planned to stay seven nights but left after only two because the hot, sleepless nights were unbearable. The room was tiny, humid, and extremely hot, enough to give you a headache. Our window only opened halfway, and there was no air conditioning. The fan didn't rotate. The bed was rock hard, there was no hot water, and we had to kill a roach when we arrived. On top of that, an outdoor distribution center next door gets very noisy from 6am. I highly don't recommend this place.

The rooms don't keep out noise at all. During my 10-day stay, I only slept well on two nights. I could hear even the smallest sounds from the room next door, along with engines and buses outside.
