Max the golden retriever kept me company while I was there. The owners and Myriam were warm and accommodating, and the house itself is lovely, from the rooms to the views and the surrounding area.

Luisa was the part that stood out most. I know very little Spanish, but she was patient and did her best to help us communicate. The restaurant on site was very good, too. La Kolorina feels like a real Colombian farmhouse in the hills around Jericó, simple and rustic rather than fancy. Walking into town takes about 20-25 minutes along quiet country roads, some of them steep. You can also get there by car, tuktuk, or moto. I'd recommend it if you're after an affordable, peaceful place away from town.

There are plenty of spots on the grounds, set away from the road, where you can enjoy nature. The regional food is traditional, and friends of mine have stayed for longer stretches and really liked it. Jericó is also a reasonable walk away.

The unpaved approach road is a bit difficult for a town car. We expected a quiet, warm-weather getaway, so that was a small letdown. The place is a typical country farmhouse that's been remodeled for guests.
