Hotel Del Llano

It's not bad for the price. The service was good, the A/C works well, and the pool is great. The rooms show the age of the place, though. Remember your room key, because they use keys here. It made me think of what a Best Western resort in Colombia might be like.

After I'd reserved and arrived, they told me there was a tax. I pointed out that no other hotel had charged me one, and she said it was from the hotel. She even said it was meant to profit the hotel. That's an unethical way of doing business, taking advantage of people to make more money after they've already paid. Taxes help communities.

The people are lovely and the service is good, but that can't make up for the decaying infrastructure. The place seems to belong to the 1960s cocaine-trade boom and badly needs updating. After a hard, sweltering day at work, I was put in a room where the central air conditioning hadn't been turned on because most of that wing was unoccupied and someone had decided the temperature was pleasant.

Update: After I complained about the room shown in the photos, they moved me to an upgraded one that was much nicer. Even so, I checked out two days early because the internet in that room was awful, only 512 Kbs download. I couldn't do anything on my phone or computer. The staff are really, really nice, but the hotel needs a lot of improvement and remodeling. It's old and needs work; the management doesn't deserve the wonderful staff they have. They denied my Expedia refund request for at least the last two days, and charged me the 19% national tax even though I'm a US citizen who doesn't live in Colombia and, as I understand it, shouldn't be charged it. I paid just so I could leave. Please avoid this hotel. I paid $400 for seven nights, which is above the city's average. I'd been there just an hour and the rooms were already showing their age, with things damaged everywhere. I hate complaining, and didn't want to complain there either, since I was mostly going to use the room to recover from wisdom teeth extraction. The staff were nice, and the pool and building were nice in general, but inside the hotel felt old-fashioned. I'd recommend Hotel Estelar or somewhere much cheaper.
