The pool was great, and the rooms are spacious. We liked the old-fashioned ledger you sign at check-in, it felt very 1950s. The rooms were clean and the service attentive, and for the price, this place is hard to beat in La Mesa. There’s no hot water, which seems common at hotels here, and no air conditioning. A fan and window are provided, though leaving the window open overnight means inviting mosquitoes in. The minibar is stocked at the same prices as the local bar, so drink away, amigos! We enjoyed it enough to book another night, and we’ll stay again.

The pool isn’t heated, but the weather made it just right for our stay. There’s a small grocery store within walking distance, so you can pick up anything you need. Bring your own cups and utensils if you plan to use the kitchen area, since it has no stove or kitchenware. The shower water is cold, though in the heat that worked perfectly well for us. Wi-Fi is available, but it comes and goes. I’d also be glad to see the mattresses replaced. They’re extremely hard and gave me back pain.
