We saw an amazing range of wildlife around the grounds, including capuchins, cotton top tamarins, toucans, an opossum, a yellow striped poison dart frog, and even a sloth while relaxing in the jacuzzi. Our family room was spacious and comfortable, with its own balcony jacuzzi. The place is set in the jungle, has a good restaurant, and the staff were friendly. We arrived early and they stored our bags until check-in. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk inside the Tayrona National Park entrance. The boardwalk trail wasn’t open during our visit, but there were still plenty of nearby places to walk. Highly recommend.

The passerelle was a great place to watch monkeys, then head back for a quick jacuzzi soak. Dairo, Tatiana and the staff were so kind and made the whole visit memorable. Our room was clean and comfortable, and after long hikes we could count on excellent breakfast and dinner. They even packed breakfast for us to take along for our early flight home. Couldn’t recommend them enough!

This was a great base for hiking into the Park. The hotel sits on a small hill above the canopy, with views in every direction. We saw howler monkeys right on the property, along with tucans, hummingbirds, four kinds of snakes, lots of spiders, and other animals. We were lucky enough to spot the endangered Cotton Top Tamarind and capuchin monkeys too. The trails to San Juan and elsewhere were very busy, and the beaches were crowded but beautiful. There was a caiman in the freshwater by one beach. Definitely recommend staying here.

The food was delicious, including fresh-caught seafood, and Dairo was a thoughtful, attentive host who helped me with my Spanish. It’s a quiet, peaceful place if you want a break from the noise of Santa Marta. Ecohotel Yachay Tayrona is an affordable hotel in the jungle, right inside the Parque Tayrona (El Zaino) entrance. You wake up to birds and howler monkeys. They can arrange a quick bus ride for 12 thousand COP to the track, then you can walk to playa Cabo San Juan or visit two lovely beaches on the way.

Dairo made sure we had everything we needed, and Veronica deserves credit for the really good food. The surroundings have incredible views and it’s easy to feel close to nature here. The park entrance is about a 15-minute walk away.
