Montana Guesthouse

I loved staying in the house two years ago, so I came back for one night on October 7, 2024. This time was a letdown. It’s under new management, and the service has changed. There was no hot water, and the jacuzzi jets didn’t work. They no longer have someone cook breakfast in the kitchen. You have to order the day before, and it’s delivered, which wasn’t the same. The video room and the glamping tent outside the house are gone, too, which was the biggest disappointment. Most of the rest was unchanged, but they charged for marshmallows and fruit that I thought were complimentary. I won’t be back.

The views are stunning, even from the shower, and the photos don’t really capture how beautiful it is. If you’d like some quiet countryside away from downtown Salento, Montana Glamping is a great choice. It was our first time glamping, and we got used to the shared bathrooms and a few ants, which never became a problem. The service was excellent, and they were easy to reach on Whatsapp. Breakfast was delicious, and you can order dinner if you’d rather not walk into town. It’s about a 10-minute walk, not strenuous, and since we had trouble finding cabs in town, we just walked. I’d definitely recommend it.

The villa was spacious, comfortable, and beautiful, and the staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. The views from the terrace or jacuzzi are spectacular, especially at sunset. A few things could be better for a five-star stay. The kitchen needs more useful equipment, like pans and a wine opener, if you want to cook. We had trouble getting warm water, though the staff helped fix it, and a lasting solution would be better. The food varied in quality: one day the empanadas came with a nice fresh sauce, another day with ketchup. Breakfast, though, was perfect every day. Thanks to the great staff 🙏

Opening the tent in the morning to that breathtaking valley view was unforgettable. This was probably the most beautiful place we stayed in Colombia. The town center is about a 20-minute walk away.
