Hostel Casa de las Palmas

We booked an amazon- tour through the hostel, and it was unforgettable, a once-in-a-lifetime part of our stay in leticia that we’ll never forget. We had a private room and a great stay, with nice staff. The pool was great, and there was a bar and a gym too.

The place was clean and the beds were comfortable enough, but it was extremely hot and there weren’t many fans. Staff were really unhelpful, the tours were way overpriced, and no one speaks English. We found much better, reasonably priced tours at Gamboa down the street. We stayed three nights with my partner.

Dogs barked outside the rooms from 3:30-6:30 in the morning, and staff just let them. The staff were very unhelpful and did nothing to make us feel welcome. I wouldn’t recommend the hostel to anyone. We previously left a review and were accused of being fake travelers who hadn’t stayed there. Don’t stay here if you don’t speak Spanish, and don’t book their tours. They’re drastically overpriced, and they won’t make any effort to fill the tour, so expect to go alone. Gamboa just down the road was reasonably priced, and we had an amazing tour there. Just an overall bad experience with this place.

We booked this hostel because it was advertised as having a kitchen. After buying groceries for the next few days, we were shocked to see a sign saying guests couldn’t use the stove. That restriction hadn’t been mentioned beforehand. We’d already bought the food, so we started cooking anyway. A staff member confronted us in an unbelievably rude, passive-aggressive way. Instead of simply explaining the rule, she questioned whether we could read and spoke to us like children. Then she said she’d personally check whether we’d cleaned up properly, in a completely condescending tone. We would have understood a polite explanation, but got hostility and disrespect instead. The staff’s attitude was uncalled for and left a really bad impression. If you want to use the kitchen facilities, this isn’t the place. And if you expect decent hospitality, you might want to look elsewhere.
