Villa Imperio

The rooms are all really nice, and I especially liked the preferred cabin or the San Ángel cabin that looks out over the lake. This was my second time in Colombia and my second stay here. The place has a fresh look now, and it felt peaceful and well cared for, a lovely spot to spend time with friends or family. Next time I visit, I’ll stay longer for sure.

The house was musty, dirty, and badly neglected, and the bathrooms were in rough shape. I was shocked by the condition of the kitchen: it had no pots until the caretaker found some, and the blender had mold in it. Neither of the two refrigerators worked properly, and one had cockroaches inside. The property also had no security, and there was no privacy because the pool was shared with other guests, despite being advertised as a cabin with a pool. Some Google photos didn’t match the place at all, and others gave a completely misleading impression. I went with my family, and the trip turned into a disaster and an embarrassment for some of our guests. I felt completely ripped off. The property was not worth the price, especially since the owner took no action, ignored what had happened, and didn’t even take time to assess the situation or offer compensation. I can’t recommend it. This place is terrible.

The cabins are open to lots of people without any control, so it didn’t feel like a healthy place for a family. It’s very remote, with no other options for children. The bathrooms were clogged, and the grill area they gave us was filthy and full of cockroaches. Service was very poor, and there were no biosecurity measures. In the end, it was not a 31st. Pleasant.

There’s no control over who enters the cabin, so there’s ZERO SECURITY. The social area also isn’t private, despite being advertised that way as part of a private cabin with an excellent shared space. Other cabins on the property use it too. The cabin was appallingly unclean, and the refrigerator and other amenities were in terrible condition.
