Café Hotel By Lars

This was my third stay at Cafe Hotel Medellin. In the past, my friend who lives in Medellin could come each morning, show his ID, and spend about half an hour in my room while we talked through the day and some private matters. He never stayed overnight or used the amenities. This time I was charged $150 US for that same convenience. It felt incredibly disrespectful, and I know I was ripped off.

The rooms were roomy, including the bathrooms, and the beds were comfortable. The staff were attentive and helpful, and the service was amazing. I’d recommend staying here without hesitation.

We stayed three nights and had a nice time overall. The room didn’t have a fridge, and breakfast was basic, with eggs served to you and only a small range of other choices. Rain kept us eating dinner there all three days; the food was decent, especially the beef burgers. Communication was a little tricky since, as in much of Colombia, English speakers can be hard to find, but it wasn’t a real problem. It’s a good hotel choice, about a 10 minute walk from Provencia, where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and cafes.

From my room in El Poblado, it was about a 10 minute walk to places to eat, and money exchange, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and pharmacies were all nearby. I stayed in spring 2024 in a deluxe single with a view, thanks to the big floor-to-ceiling windows. The rooftop pool has an AMAZING view. Service was exceptionally good, the room was clean, and the breakfast I booked was really good, especially the coffee. I had a great time in Medellin and nothing to complain about with this fantastic hotel and its staff. I’d book again anytime. Thank you for such a pleasant stay!
