Chillin District Hostel

It’s a nice, clean hostel and good value, but not the easiest place to meet people. There’s no restaurant or bar and hardly any common space. The Wi-Fi is patchy and only works in some areas, and the top bunks are very high, difficult to climb into and close to the ceiling. Couples should know there’s a rule against sharing a bed.

Daniela was really friendly and had great suggestions for things to do around Medellin and places to eat. You can also book excursions through the hostel, and those were good. It’s a great place to stay while traveling, very clean, and housekeeping cleans the rooms and washrooms throughout the day.

The reception staff make the place. They’re awesome, and everyone speaks perfect English. The beds are comfortable, and it’s easy to meet people in the social area. Someone took my food from the kitchen, but I can’t blame the hostel, probably just another hungry guest. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Medellín.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, speak English, and know the neighborhood well. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is the walk to the hotspots, about three or four blocks. It’s downhill going there, but uphill coming back after a lot of drinking, which nobody wants to do. It’s not far, and the atmosphere more than makes up for those few blocks. I do wish it were a bit closer, but don’t hesitate to book.
