Golden Valley Hotel

We had a great night here and I'd happily stay again. The staff were all very friendly, and the modern design was lovely. Our room looked just like the pictures, with effective a/c and a comfortable bed. The location is perfect for getting around Poblado on foot. Breakfast came with our rate and had fresh fruit, hot and cold buffet choices, plus eggs made to order on the rooftop. There's a restaurant in the lobby as well as Aureo, the bar/restaurant on the roof.

The noise around the hotel, especially in the morning, made it impossible to rest properly. Breakfast was also poorly managed: unless guests came very early, the food ran out shortly after 9:00 AM. Most staff didn't speak English, so basic communication was difficult and we had to rely on translators to understand important information. The room was exceptionally small despite my advance request for a larger one. When I questioned it, I was told I had to pay extra, without a reasonable explanation. I reluctantly agreed, but the practice felt misleading and unjustified. The room amenities were poor too. The bathroom sink handle broke during normal use, and the curtains didn't work, which suggested a lack of maintenance. Water was provided only once at check-in; when I asked for a bottle the next day, I was told that was the policy. I've never encountered that even at budget motels. I had clearly told staff that I might have a visitor and was explicitly told it was allowed. When a friend came by later, an employee named Kardi pressured and threatened me, then showed me a document I hadn't seen before, two days after check-in, claiming it related to “commercial sex.” That was completely irrelevant and false. I was forced to pay an additional $40. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was refused, and no supervisor or manager has contacted me since. The whole experience was frustrating, disrespectful, and unprofessional. I strongly discourage others from staying unless they're prepared for poor service, hidden charges, and inadequate management.

It's in El Poblado, but away from the middle of the party scene, which was perfect. All the hotel staff were really friendly. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Thanks for a wonderful experience, we'll definitely be back!

The staff were extremely kind, and breakfast was good, though for the price I expected more, including more services in the room. The hotel and room were clean, and my overall experience was positive. I stayed for one night during Fise. The room's poor soundproofing let early morning noise disturb my sleep.
