Hostal Lleras Calle 8 - Hostel

The hot showers were good, the place was clean, the staff were great, and it was good value. But the walls are paper thin, and the entertainment next door is so loud it goes on until the early hours. One neighbour’s alarm also rang for 20 minutes at 6am. Please turn yours off! You’ll need earplugs to get a decent night’s sleep. I’m not sure why everyone says this is the area to stay in. It’s a 25 min walk to the nearest metro, and the bars and clubs feel soulless. The area has been so gentrified.

I’ve been coming here for 3 years and keep returning, even though I’m always looking at other places. The price is hard to beat, the location is excellent, and the staff always take care of me. The accommodations are clean and work perfectly for a solo traveler. I usually meet a really diverse mix of people from Europe, the US, Latin America, and elsewhere. I stay in the dorm, where the beds are comfortable, the privacy curtain is more than adequate, and there’s a locker for your things. The bathrooms, showers, and kitchen are always clean. I especially love the woman who cleans, she’s thorough and kind. I’m past my late-night party days and usually go to bed around 9-10pm. You can hear music from the bars next door, but I’ve never had trouble falling asleep without earplugs. You’re in Poblado, people party.

A nightmare. I couldn’t sleep all night because the music was really loud, and my bed was uncomfortable. There was dust in the room, too. I asked the girl at reception for earplugs, but she didn’t have any. She didn’t understand English at all, which made it hard to communicate.

The location is what saves this hostel. It’s on a lively street with lots of places to go out, but if you want to sleep, this isn’t the street for you. The rooms are just okay. There’s no room service, towels never get changed, the shower water is cold, and there are no toiletries. Visitors aren’t allowed either.
