Loyds Hotel

The breakfast is pretty basic, and some of the reception staff came across as unfriendly. There’s no elevator or help with bags, which is especially hard if you have health problems. My room faced the courtyard, near the water heater serving the whole hotel, and the nonstop noise made sleep nearly impossible. Reception said it would quiet down overnight once guests finished showering and stopped using hot water, when the heater stopped running. That’s not an acceptable answer. Some rooms are also so narrow they feel like corridors and are really uncomfortable.

I had a good three-night stay. The room was spacious and clean, breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and always polite. The hotel is in a quiet part of El Poblado.

Hotel Loyds delivered the quiet I was hoping for as a light sleeper, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It’s close to everything, too. A couple of nights I could hear some music outside, but it wasn’t loud and I could mostly block it out with an earplug. The bathroom has no window or ventilation, though, so it gets musty.

The service was excellent, but I ended up leaving a day early because I needed somewhere quieter and more private. There are plenty of hotels within 100 meters at the same price that offer more of both, so I can’t recommend this one. My first-floor room was 50 feet or less from reception, and noise carried straight in. The place is right by the main road, where cars honk as early as 5 in the morning, making sleep difficult. The location and privacy were abysmal.
