Paisa Hostel Medellín

Hotel Paísa is affordable and in a safe, calm part of Laureles, with convenient laundry service. But we had a rough stay in our private room. It was practically part of the kitchen, and people could look straight into it if we opened the window. The worst part was the humidity. The air felt damp all the time, things left out of our suitcases were affected, my passport and novel warped, and our clothes felt a little wet. My phone even warned of water in its charging port from the humid air. Sleeping was uncomfortable too, with a very hard bed and flat pillows. The bed slats broke as we got up. To be fair, they fixed it within a few hours and offered us another room, but it was still wild. I wouldn't stay there again.

The cleaning lady was so kind and worked incredibly hard, offering to clean my room, doing laundry, and keeping the shared areas spotless. The other workers and the manager were also incredibly friendly, and the manager helped me with a lot of things. The volunteers were nice and lots of fun too. It's a beautiful, well put together hostel in Laurales, a safe and wealthy part of Medellín. I'll definitely be back in a few months.

We had a good experience in general for the two days we stayed. The hostel is cozy, and the staff, especially Orlando, is polite and cool. Our bedroom was somehow inside the kitchen, though, so it got very hot and didn't have much airflow.

The shared bathroom was fine, with a good shower and hot water, and there's a kitchen with everything needed to cook. Our double room was nice and the beds were comfortable. We stayed a few nights and had a good time. A supermarket is about a minute away, with cafes, restaurants, and the metro station also close by. The area is nice and safe, and all the staff were friendly. Orlando was especially kind and helpful. I'd recommend it.
