Hotel Manantial

We asked for the music to be turned off or at least lowered while we sat by the pool, but we were the only guests there and got told, “Sorry, that's the vibe of the place.” A beer also came with a $30 corkage charge. We’d driven 4.5 hours from Bogota and hoped to nap before lunch, but constant loud music from a speaker just outside our balcony made that impossible. Check-in had already gone badly. First they showed us a room across the road in a gated car park that felt like a prison exercise yard. After we discussed it, they moved us to the main hotel. That room was a little better, clean but small and cramped, with barely working AC. Unless Guantanamo Bay prison camp is your idea of a holiday vibe, stay away.

We had a wonderful family stay. The food was good, the rooms were clean, and the swimming pools were really nice. The hotel sits on a quiet road just off the main streets, only a block or two from the town center. Recommended!

Breakfast is good, and the hotel is very close to avenida cafam without being disturbed by the discos’ music. The cost versus what you get is OK, though the rooms are very, very small.

The room was dirty and broken, the pool tiles were missing or sharp, and there was dirty standing water that could attract mosquitoes. The pool didn’t open on time, the food was bad, the service was terrible, and the staff were rude. There were noisy drunk guests, I felt unsafe, and staff stared at women guests. The hotel is surrounded by a significant homeless population, and getting there on foot felt dangerous. The check-in was just as bad. I arrived with a prepaid booking, but the receptionist and manager named 'Rocio' insisted I pay $40,000 (£10 / 20% of the prepaid booking), claiming everyone had to pay that tax. That was clearly a lie, since it only applies to Colombians. I’m a foreigner without local nationality, paid with a foreign card, and showed my foreign passport. I ended up paying because my child was asleep on the reception sofa and needed to get to bed. The staff were completely unprofessional and unreasonable, willing to cheat guests over an insignificant amount while children slept in reception. Appalling place. DO NOT STAY HERE.
