Hotel Minca La Casona

Free parking and some good spots to park. The hotel has a great view, and the hummingbirds on the breakfast terrace are the highlight. Breakfast was okay, but you can’t swap something like juice for water without paying extra. The hotel and rooms are very old, and the place wasn’t the cleanest.

The rooms are okay, but the dining room balcony and its great view are a real draw. They have feeders that bring in hummingbirds, and honestly that alone could make this hotel worth choosing for a stay in Minca. Edited to remove my comment about hot water. I had mixed this place up with another hotel.

My husband and I had such a lovely three-day stay. The hotel is quaint, comfortable, and welcoming, exactly what we’d been looking for. It’s peaceful, with a lush mountain view and lots of hummingbirds coming to well-kept feeders. We watched them from a comfortable terrace. The rooms were impeccable, with comfortable beds, hot showers, and AC and a fan that both worked well. Restaurants, pharmacies, tour centres, and convenience stores are all about a 5-15 minute walk away. Rosa and Juan made a real difference. They were kind, welcoming, pleasant, and helpful, some of the best staff I’ve met in all my travels. I hope we meet again!

The view across the valley was good, breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. The location is very close to Minca’s centre. Still, I’d strongly advise against staying here until they catch up on cleaning and maintenance. The hotel needs a lot of care. When I arrived, I found mold in the bathroom and on the shower curtain. I asked to change rooms, but they were fully booked. Staff said they’d be happy to replace the curtain, but didn’t have one available. The next morning I noticed black moldy spots on my pillow and took it to reception. They replaced it without saying anything. The pillow, and the pillow itself, seemed to be made of some kind of polyester you’d expect for four-year-olds, so they don’t ruin the bed when they wet the sheets. We planned to spend the next day at the pool, but when we got there it looked almost nothing like the brochure photos. The water was 30 cm below its usual level, the outer pool was full of sand, and the large hammocks they advertise had been removed. The staff didn’t take the initiative to sort out problems. The place needs a lot of work on maintenance and cleaning before I’d recommend it.
