Hostal 42

The staff and room cleanliness could use some work. When we got there, the receptionist started taking us to a room, but it was dirty when she opened the door, so she immediately said we'd stay in one downstairs instead. That room was small and looked clean at first, but there was an open package of cord under the bed. If they improved these things, I think it could be an excellent hotel.

I booked for midday to make sure I'd have somewhere to stay in a city I didn't know. When I arrived around 7:00 pm, tired and ready to rest, they wouldn't honor the reservation. That experience with the Hotel 42 Avenida showed me how much staff treatment matters in deciding whether a guest comes back. I do NOT recommend it.

The hotel has an outdoor parking area that fits three cars. There's also a gas station about 200 meters ahead where you can leave your car overnight. The place is clean and the service is good.

I was extremely disappointed with the service. We had asked for two air conditioned rooms, one with a single bed and the other with a double. One room only had a fan, and the double bed was just 80 cm wide. In the morning, an employee came into the room without knocking or asking. When I raised it, she just said, "Lock the door."
