I spent 12 days at De Requka, and by the end it felt more like home than a hostel. The garden was beautiful, and I ended up spending a surprising amount of time there. The location was fantastic, with lots of good restaurants nearby and the bus terminal not far away. Everyone at De Requka was lovely and helpful. When my bag broke, Janine mended it for me. Juliana made delicious breakfast each morning and shared ideas about things to see and do, while Doña Alba had plenty of good activity recommendations. I met so many interesting people and loved the bright, joyful atmosphere. I’ll definitely come back. Thanks to everyone at De Requka for making the stay so memorable.

I’d still recommend this place, but it’s probably best to call them directly. Our room was very affordable, the street was quiet, and there were lots of restaurants nearby. The area felt pretty safe, and it was about a 20-minute walk to the bus terminal. The walk near the terminal wasn’t great, so try the pedestrian bridge if you can find it. The garden was beautiful and there were lots of common areas. The woman working that evening was wonderful and spent time chatting with us about Colombian fruits. We had to leave before breakfast, but they left us bread and eggs to cook ourselves. The booking process was a mess. We’d booked a room through Hotels.com (Expedia) a week ahead, but when we arrived, the staff had no record of it. They eventually found the email, but our room wasn’t available. Luckily the hostel was nearly empty, so they offered us a private dorm, which we accepted. They didn’t know whether I’d paid, and even after that, they didn’t remove any rooms from Expedia. I’ve seen others mention the same issue. Handling bookings is a pretty basic part of running accommodation, and this check-in felt disorganized.

The team made the stay: Juliana, Liz & volunteer dude were funny, relaxed, and really accommodating. The hostel was clean and quiet, with great breakfasts. It’s also in a great spot for bars, restaurants, malls, and viewpoints. Salento and Filandia are only about an hour away, and the main bus station is a 10-minute walk. Highly recommended if you’re in pereira.

We stopped here for one night on the way to Salento, and it was a lovely place to pause. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the hosts were great. We had a beer or two with Colton, who works there, and spent time in the calm, pretty garden. We really enjoyed it.

There are several restaurants within walking distance, which was a plus. The hostel is very basic and feels low-budget, pretty much what you’d expect for the price. When they told me there’d been an overbooking, they arranged for me to have a dorm to myself instead of my double room for the night. I appreciated not being turned away. Still, staff didn’t volunteer basic details like breakfast time or the door code, so I had to ask. Breakfast was adequate, but basic too.
