Finca Hotel el Descanso del Duque

We were really disappointed after reading so many good reviews. We booked, and my kids were excited to visit after seeing the pictures. Then the hotel called to say that since other clients wanted to book for the same day, they were adding 400 mil pesos to our reservation. By then, local hotel prices had gone up too, so it was last minute. That policy and the owner’s behavior felt quite dishonorable.

We loved it. It’s just right when you’re looking for a place that feels like it belongs to the area you’re visiting.

The rooms had everything we needed, and the place was lovely and peaceful for a relaxing break. We spent two nights without hot water, though, which made it seem like the owners weren't paying quite enough attention to upkeep. The Wi-Fi also didn't work, but given the rural location, we understand that may be normal.

From the spacious corridors and social areas, visitors can take in the Coffee Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as beautiful sunrises and sunsets. El Descanso del Duque is a country hotel in a traditional house with Republican Antioquian architecture and more than 122 years of history. Built in the late 19th century, it has been refurbished in recent years to offer visitors to the coffee region service and relaxation. The house has two floors.
