What works best here is the downtown location. Lots of attractions, including the four squares, are just a few minutes away on foot, and there are several coffee shops nearby, like Medio Oscuro. I’d also suggest Queso y Cafe at Carrera 6 and Calle 21. My room had an air conditioner and a corner view of the street and city. The free WiFi was good, though I never used the TV. The room itself is basic: no fridge, safe, or coffee machine, and you can hear people in the next room talking or even snoring at night. There were only two towels in the bathroom, each about half or a third the size of a normal shower towel. Service was average. Breakfast was very simple, eggs, one piece of cheese, one kind of fruit, coffee, and a piece of bread. The hotel gets a lot of groups and buses. It was fun to see so many people, but they all seemed to arrive for breakfast at once, so I could barely find a table.

We got to the hotel just before noon, after a 6,500 COP taxi ride from the terminal. Even though check-in officially starts at 3 pm, they let us into our room early, which we really appreciated. We picked this modern hotel partly because it’s about 270 metres from Bolivar Plaza. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom modern, with a simple breakfast. There was no lift, though. I noticed an empty lift shaft and guessed the place may have been renovated and an elevator was due to be installed, or that it had been removed entirely. Luckily, our room was on the third floor and we each had only a backpack.

The rooms are great, the staff are friendly, and the WiFi is decent. Most of the staff don’t speak English, but the manager does. With Google Translate on your phone, getting by is no problem.
