Posada Old Town Bay

The room’s mattress dipped in the middle and made it hard to sleep. We also didn’t have hot water, though a cold shower felt refreshing in the heat. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel would have been useful. And please don’t move our bed back every day after we’ve shifted it to plug in a charger, taking the charger with it. Still, we had a lovely time at Posada Old Town Bay. The sea-view rooms are worth it, and the motorbike rentals at 100k/90k per day were convenient and fairly priced. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, but took about 30 minutes even when we were the only guests. A larger juice jar or preparing some things ahead might help; yogurt and fresh fruit would be nice additions too. Despite those few issues, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for a relaxing break.

We got to enjoy some wonderful experiences and activities while staying here. It made for an amazing stay.

The room had a fantastic view, and this felt like a great fit for us as a young couple. Chantal made the best breakfast every morning, and the care and hospitality were there throughout. One night, music from down the road was audible in our room. When the lights were off, crabs also ran up to our door, perhaps because of the reflection. I put my phone light on low by the door and didn’t see any more. We spent one full day on a private snorkel trip with France, a wonderful guide, then rented a scooter the next day and circled the island, stopping wherever we could. The host arranged both services, and they were provided right there: the boat left from the house, and the scooters were at the house too. The driveway ends on a dirt stretch, which may not suit everyone. I’d seen reports that 99% of the infrastructure was destroyed in Hurricane Iota in 2020. When our taxi didn’t show up at departure time, our wonderful host was already helping before we even had to ask. We appreciated that a lot. Amazing island, people, and food. We’d love to come back.

We watched the sunset from one of the hammocks, and it’s hard to imagine a better spot. Breakfast by the water was delicious and peaceful, and everyone was so friendly that we felt at home. The place was clean and comfortable, though the rooms are a little small. There’s AC and Wi-Fi. The connection comes and goes, which seems normal for the island. It’s not fast enough for streaming or Zoom, but works well for other things.
