Elizabeth is an amazing cook, and between the two of them, she and Leo made us feel like family. Their rooms are comfortable, and the hammocks were just right for unwinding after a long day. Leo took us on some amazing adventures and sorted things out when scheduling conflicts came up, making sure we were looked after. He’s incredibly patient and knows the area so well. He speaks some English, and we speak some Spanish, but that was only a small obstacle and didn’t take away from the tours. Thanks for taking such good care of us on our adventure. We’d recommend staying here to anyone.

There’s no car in town, which makes it very tranquil. The guesthouse is in an amazing spot, about 5-10 minutes from the Main Street and very close to the Wochine reserve. In the mornings I woke to roosters, dogs, and birds, and each evening a group of monkeys came by the hotel. Leo was already being attentive when I arrived in port Nariño. He picked me up, showed me around, and offered all kinds of recommendations. This kind and amazing Tikuna family hosted me for five nights, making delicious traditional meals and being sweet and accommodating the whole time. I’d totally live here if the stars align. I’ll definitely be back.

One of the best parts was Elizabeth’s delicious cooking and the fresh organic fruit they grow themselves. The papaya was the best I’ve ever had. Guests can use the open kitchen, and they always provide cold drinking water. We loved having places to relax in the quiet, with only nature sounds around. From the hammocks, we spotted two kinds of monkeys, hummingbirds, frogs, and butterflies every day. The guesthouse Tatuane/Mundo Amazónico sits right on the jungle’s edge, about a 10-minute walk from the town center, near the hospital and a public water dispenser. Our room was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for a good night’s sleep, including mosquito nets. Leo and Elizabeth are locals with a wealth of knowledge about the area. Elizabeth works extensively with indigenous communities, and Leo, a local Tikuna, studied environmentalism and knows the region’s flora, fauna, and nature intimately. He also shared invaluable insights into Tikuna culture, language, and traditions. They were exceptional hosts, and Leo’s experience as a guide made our tours with him informative and engaging. I highly recommend doing tours and activities with him to get a deeper understanding of the area. It was an amazing experience that made our time in Puerto Nariño very special. We highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a genuine Amazon experience with hosts who truly care about their community.

We stayed three nights and were super happy, with nothing to complain about. The owners were lovely and friendly, and we got free tea and coffee every morning. You can also have breakfast, lunch, or dinner there. The night tour was really nice, and you can do the reserve tours on your own too. A little monkey who lives in the forest and sometimes hangs around the place visited us every morning. That was the absolute highlight of our stay. Thanks for your hospitality and a lovely visit.

Planning our Amazon trip was the hardest part of getting ready. We weren’t sure whether to take a tour, where to stay if not, or whether to choose a jungle lodge or stay in town and take day trips. Hostal Tatuane felt like the best of all those options. This is the first review I’ve written since our Colombia trip, and the fact that I chose this place says a lot. We had a wonderful stay with Leo and Elizabeth in their home on the edge of the jungle, just a short walk from town. They were great hosts, with clean rooms, excellent food and juices, an open kitchen, and informative tours based on Leo’s vast knowledge. Prices were good too. I don’t speak much Spanish, but Leo has a real gift for making himself understood at any level. I can’t recommend the place highly enough and wish them every success.
