Hotel Salgar Plaza

The rooms are spacious, with plenty of room to put your things and unwind, and the price is good for what you get. I’m a heavy sleeper, so the nearby nightclubs didn’t keep me up. Breakfast is very basic and the pool is pretty small, though.

It’s centrally located, with parking, Wi-Fi, a nice pool, tasty breakfast, cool rooms, and good service. For the price, it’s really affordable.

The breakfast was excellent, and the reception staff were very helpful. I can’t say the same for the owners, who gave me the impression they didn’t care about guests and acted as if they were doing us a favor. When I put up a hammock because of the heat, the owner came over. After I took it down, he said it wasn’t for hanging there. I explained that I was hot, but he acted as though I was at fault. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for several days if you want to relax. There are several nightclubs nearby, and the weekend music is incredibly loud. The Wi-Fi was mediocre, and the power went out frequently, almost always at night. They have a generator, but my impression was that they were too lazy to switch it on. Based on other users’ reviews, I’d choose another hotel.

The price is inexpensive, and the rooms are comfortable with air conditioning. But they weren’t clean: the walls and bedding were very dirty. Noise was a problem inside and outside the hotel. It’s across from one bar and beside another, in an area with several bars, and the street noise carried on until after 3 a.m. There’s also a motion sensor at the entrance that beeps whenever someone walks by, plus another on the second floor that goes off all night. The one good point was how attentive and pleasant the staff were.
