The best part of our stay at FINCA HOTEL EL REMANSO DEL QUINDIO was the setting: a beautiful, remote farm with views, fruit trees, a large pool, and parrots you can look at but shouldn’t touch. It’s a big property for families, and it’s near Panaca and within reach of Parque de Cafe. But the basics were a real letdown. There was no hot water, and the Jacuzzi was cold too, so after the cold pool we ended up with an icy shower. The farm had a router, but there was no working Wi-Fi or internet; without cell service, you’re offline. Some meals were included and regional, but a couple seemed to make several of us sick the next day. The tap water isn’t potable, so bring bottled or treated water. Drinks were limited to one juice choice, and anything else meant buying it in town or bringing it along. Quimbaya is about 15 to 20 minutes away. Our beds were hard, as I’ve found common in Colombia. Most staff were friendly, though special requests got mixed results. Ants were all over our room, and we had to go into town for spray. Bring your own towels, washcloths, soap, and bathroom supplies. The rooms also got hot; most had fans, but they barely helped. It was a memorable stay, good and bad, but I wouldn’t return unless these issues were addressed.

Really nice spot!

The new management has made a great impression. We found the architecture lovely, the shared areas clean and well cared for, and our room and bathroom both spacious. The shower had hot water, breakfast was delicious, and the service was hard to beat. There’s plenty to enjoy, from the pool, jacuzzi, bar, and BBQ to the other activities, or you can just take in the scenery and relax. I loved it and would highly recommend it.

Breakfast was good, and the property looked well kept from the outside, but the room was in poor shape. It was damp, the walls had lots of cracks, and there was no hot water or air conditioning, just one standing fan for four people. We’d been moved here from El Caney because of an unexplained issue with our reserved room. The staff on site were pleasant, but didn’t help much, and customer service was basically absent. I’d booked two nights and left after one. I’m still waiting for Booking.com to resolve the reservation. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The grounds are attractive, and the Coffee Park was beautiful and well organized, but our stay at the farm was frustrating enough that I wouldn’t go back. We were a group of 16 spread across four rooms. The jacuzzi didn’t work, the pool had no towels, and we were eventually given just seven for everyone. Our wet bathroom towels weren’t replaced either. The shower was painfully cold, especially after swimming. Only one room had a ceiling fan; the others had weak floor fans, and with the heat, the rooms felt like saunas. Opening the windows brought in so many insects that we had to shut them again. There were ants on the bed and floor in my room. I told the people in charge, but nothing was done, so I bought insecticide to be able to sleep. Another room had a ceiling leak that soaked the bed, so we put a bucket underneath. Food choices were limited to what was served, and several relatives got sick. The offal soup was unusual, and the sausage looked bad enough to put us off. At breakfast there was no alternative to the juice or milk, and the only hot drinks were dark chocolate or coffee, with nothing for the children. We went into town for breakfast food and fried chicken. We only drank the bottled water we’d brought because the tap water wasn’t safe. The water cooler stayed at the same level from our arrival through the last day, so I don’t know what was used to cook. I rarely write reviews, but wanted people to know what to expect. Repairs on the road also made travel difficult: a drive that normally takes six hours from Medellín to Armenia took us 13 hours with 20 people.
