Wyndham Garden Villavicencio

The landscaping looks great, and most staff were friendly and helpful. But the hotel needs a lot of maintenance. Some windows were broken, doors didn’t close properly, and the shower water supply had problems. The toilet broke and flooded the bathroom, so we used towels to keep water from reaching the bedroom. Maintenance arrived quickly, but even after asking several times, we still had no clean towels eight hours later. Breakfast was very basic, with no fresh juice. Dogs were loose around the pool and peeing there, then pooping on the grass beside it. WiFi was unstable and didn’t cover the whole hotel area.

We were put on the third floor, then told the elevators couldn’t be used because of covid. When we were surprised and asked to move, they said changing rooms would cost over 186k. We’d already been charged 100k cop more than our booking.com reservation at reception, and they blamed a website issue. The facilities need serious maintenance too. Water had pooled on the balcony because the floor sloped, and someone in the parking lot had to lift a metal bar by hand to let cars through. There also seemed to be an emergency hose missing on the third floor.

The golf course and tennis courts are nice, though I play neither. The rest of the stay was rough: the bed felt like a brick, the bathroom was tiny, and there were no cups, coffee maker, refrigerator in the room, or ice machines anywhere. WiFi worked about one minute out of ten, even in the lobby. If you have trouble walking, this place is a bad fit. The paths get very slippery when wet, and some slopes up to the towers are steep. Definitely avoid it if someone in your group uses a wheelchair.

There’s a lot of potential here, but the hotel is in very poor condition. The lack of maintenance shows in every corner, and I don’t understand how Wyndham lets it keep using the name. I wouldn’t recommend staying unless the place gets a full remodel.
