Nubia was a wonderful host, and I had a really relaxing stay for great value. There’s also a fantastic taco place nearby, La Taqueria, open Thursday to Sunday.

It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the boardwalk, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and happy to answer questions. Breakfast tasted good, though the portion was small. Some fans are noisy enough that you can’t use them at night.

The room was well kept and came with AC, a private bathroom, and a TV. Breakfast was good, with fruit included. Mrs. Nubia is warm, attentive, and always willing to help. The price was even better when I contacted the hostel directly. Highly recommended.

It’s a converted house, and the bed I had was uncomfortable. The drinks cost more than at the shop across the street. The old AC was noisy at night and didn’t cool the room very well. The woman managing the place, who we think is the owner, could be friendly, but only when it suited her. She was difficult to deal with and didn’t seem trustworthy.

It’s centrally located and felt safe, with comfortable rooms. Nubia may seem quite serious at first, but she’s open and down to earth, ready to help with whatever you need. If you’re coming to explore La Guajira, she can also point you toward tours. The welcome and atmosphere at the hostel felt very family-like. Angelita, Valentina y Clarita
