Ataraxy Hotel Boutique

Frank was a great host. I loved the area, and everything was easy to get to. I’ll be back.

The beds were comfortable, the AC worked well, the staff were really friendly, and it was good value. The location was okay too, and decent for San Andres standards. Like others, we booked Ataraxy because of the glossy photos, but the place has seen better days. Nothing was in good shape, even the safe. I’m pretty sure my six-year-old nephew could paint and tile better than the contractors did.

Amalfi’s breakfast cooking was the highlight for me. She’s the chef, and I’d definitely suggest eating there more than once. It costs 20.000 cop per person and is comforting, Grandma-like food. The staff are very friendly, and by San Andres standards the hotel is great. We stayed at another hotel on the island and it wasn’t half as good. A few things could be better: some rooms have no windows, which we only found out when we arrived. A room with windows doesn’t cost extra, but you have to ask for one specifically. The beds are easily the worst in the hotel, and having the sink right in the middle makes sleeping uncomfortable. Wifi is very slow and only works in the lobby. With a few small fixes, this could be the best place in all of San Andres. I’d definitely recommend it.

I’ve traveled around Colombia for months, and this was easily my worst hotel experience. I paid a considerable amount, and honestly, the stay couldn’t have been worse. They first offered us two triple rooms for four people. The next day they moved us to a room for four, but its bathroom was under maintenance, so we had to shower outside the building. The room smelled, and my first room had no windows. You just have to deal with it, apparently. There’s nothing “boutique” about this hotel. It’s two stars at best. DONT STAY IN THIS HOTEL.
