Hampton by Hilton Valledupar

I keep choosing Hilton because the people make it feel like home even when I'm far away. The welcome from the Front Desk women was outstanding, and the whole staff deserves thanks. Yesid always had lovely words to say, Jorge surprised me with amazing service, and Edward helped me find a great mechanic for the technical problems with my VAN. Thanks so much for a great stay.

The rooms were okay and the beds comfortable, but checking in took too long for an online reservation. Breakfast was also very poor, with bad taste throughout the selection. The worst part came when I got sick and asked for help making hot tea in my room. There was no water boiler, and the staff didn't care to help find a solution. I asked for a hot water flask and a sharp knife, which didn't seem like exotic requests for a hotel with meeting rooms and a breakfast restaurant.

The hotel itself was very nice, and Jorge was nice too. But we waited two hours to check in even though there weren't many people, and we had kids and family with us. The receptionist, idianis Miramon, was unprofessional and had an attitude. When we asked for a manager to file a complaint, she laughed as if she didn't care. I don't understand why someone who seems to have worked at a flea market would be in a role that needs good customer service.

Being connected to the mall is a real plus, and the hotel is very convenient in Valledupar. It's a bit far from the main tourist sights, though. The rooms were clean and the usual Colombian friendliness was there. The beds are kind of small if you're sharing with someone, like a child. Breakfast was nice, with plenty of morning options. 😋
