Blue Almond Hostel San Andres

Juan was a really friendly and helpful host, and staying here had a homestay feel even though it wasn't someone's home. I really enjoyed my week at the hostel. There was a fan in the room when I stayed, but it can get a bit warm. Juan sprayed the room for mosquitoes, which helped me sleep better. 👌🏻

The mosquito problem made this a miserable stay. They got into the apartment because the window wouldn’t shut completely and the front and room doors had open gaps at the top, with no netting. I’m usually not a mosquito magnet, but here it was awful, and we spent as much time outside as we could. Bring the strongest repellent you can find if you stay. We’d booked two nights but flight trouble meant we arrived late and only used one. The host changed the dates, but still charged us for both nights. We’d given notice days ahead, so I think he could have rented the room again and we could have arranged payment outside the app. I understand the rules, though. A horrible stay.

Juan and Jennifer were gracious hosts. They helped with luggage storage, golf cart rental, and general information about San Andres. The place has a nice, homey feel, and my private room was basic but very clean. I first booked it on my way to Providencia, then liked it enough to cancel another hostel booking and stay here again on my return. I saw the dorms on my last day and wouldn’t have minded staying in one, they’re very spacious.

The garden was a nice spot to relax, and the living room had bingo, board games, video games, and movie nights. The kitchen was well equipped too, and they sometimes put on special dinners like taco night. There’s a supermarket three blocks down. It’s a small, cozy hostel with a comfortable common room where it’s easy to spend time with Juan and the other travelers. Juan gives you a warm welcome and makes you feel at home. I stayed two nights and felt right at home. The beds were comfy and the dorms spacious. Great place to unwind and meet nice people. Thanks, Juan 🙏
