The apartment itself was clean, smelled fresh, and had plenty of towels and toilet paper. The bathrooms were well stocked with soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner, and the stove and fridge worked well. Wi-Fi was excellent, I didn't see any bugs, and the Malecon and supermarkets were easy to walk to. My view included the beach on one side, though the main outlook faced a large garbage dump. There was no hot water, but I was used to that on an island and it didn't bother me much. The noise is why I wouldn't stay here again. A nearby garage drilled and played loud music, businesses around the building played music day and night, and partygoers woke me repeatedly. Other residents shouted in the halls, had barking dogs and screaming kids, and the people above me pounded on the floor. I could hear everything, even the toilet flushing in the morning. Complaining to management didn't improve the noise, and I left more tired than when I arrived. Finding the place was easy. It was about a five-minute taxi ride from the airport, costing me $8, or a 25-minute walk. Reception was kind and checked me in, but I found the required bracelet odd for an apartment stay and disliked wearing it for all four days. There was only one large pot and no small one for boiling water. When I mentioned it, management said the previous guest might have taken them, then brought over a big box of new pots and pans. The apartment wasn't soundproof at all. If noise doesn't bother you, it could still work for you.
