The convenient location was a plus, about a ten minute walk from the airport and half that to the waterfront promenade. I was only there one night because of a flight change, and in hindsight I’m not upset the flight was rescheduled. The room felt cramped, partly because the windows were all skylights. They let in light, but you couldn’t see out. It also smelled nauseating. I eventually figured out it was the incense sticks in the bathroom, which had gone foul in the heat and humidity, so I had to leave the small window open the whole stay. The floor was sticky and dirty. After showering, just walking barefoot left my feet grey with dust and grime. The shower pressure was so weak, and there was no hot water, that I couldn’t wash my hair. The towels were thin and coarse. Breakfast was cooked to order and good quality, but each guest got one plate of eggs and one pancake, which wasn’t much. There were only four tables in the dining area, so several guests had to stand and wait for seats.

There’s no elevator or pool, and it isn’t one of the beachfront luxury hotels, but the Grand Carribe Hotel is good value about a block from the beach. The room was good, with a safe, TV, and comfortable bed, plus a big shower. The water only got tepidly hot, though that wasn’t a huge problem in this hellishly hot place. The AC was great. Breakfast was a pretty good buffet with some homemade local foods. The front desk provides beach towels, two per person, though they’re on the small side.

The beach is within walking distance, and breakfast is included. They also have unlimited coffee, water, and tea. The staff were friendly and eager to help. Excellent place.

We had an amazing, lovely experience here and felt so well treated. The breakfasts were made fresh for us one by one, with fresh fruit and eggs prepared by the lovely chef, with so much care. The people welcoming us at the hotel were just as warm. I’d recommend this place to anyone wanting to relax and be treated well 🥰

The room was spacious and the hotel was clean. The air conditioning was weak, but it did work. Breakfast was simple and tasty, though you only get one serving per person and can’t go back for more. The price felt a little high.
