Jhonny Cay Collection Apartment

Doña María was wonderful, kind, attentive, and the service gets 5/5 from me. Apartment 302 was clean and had air conditioning, and the place is decent value if you need somewhere to rest. Still, it didn’t look like the pictures. The first floor looked and smelled very bad, and in our apartment there was a persistent musty odor along with sewage smells from the street. I think the property has potential. I heard it was being renovated, and hope that’s true so the experience improves and the place feels less abandoned.

We arrived to find no one waiting to greet us, so a tenant had to call Maria, who showed us the apartment. In the morning, we looked more closely and found it didn’t match the amenities listed on Booking.com. There were about ten live cockroaches. One window pane was missing and another cracked, there was no fire extinguisher, and the front door felt unsafe. Half the bulbs didn’t work; electrical outlets had been pulled out or were broken, with holes nearby. The tap water was cold and salty, so showering was impossible. The walls had cracks, including a large one above a window. The living room ceiling was damp, and paint was peeling in many places. There were holes and a groove in the floor too. The TV had no free channels, air conditioning was only in the bedrooms, and only one unit worked properly. The listed amenities that were missing included a fire extinguisher, dishwasher, hand sanitizer, sea view, city view, and mountain view. The photos no longer seem to reflect the property. It felt dry and very uninhabitable.

Room 503 has the standout view. You can see the sea as soon as you wake up.

The place was clean and tidy, and the rooms are spacious with air conditioning. It’s close to both the beaches and the airport, and I’d definitely come back. Just be aware there’s no drinking water.
