Hotel la Ardilla de Santa Fe

The staff went above and beyond with whatever we needed, and the food was amazing. The jacuzzi was nice and warm, though it was a very hot day and even the pools felt very warm. There were maybe 10 to 15 guests while I was there, so the place felt pretty intimate.

This was the most expensive place I stayed in Colombia, yet it had the poorest facilities. The room was very basic, with only bright ceiling lights and no lamps. There was no toilet seat, no hot shower water, and no shampoo. Then the power went out at 7.15am. Very disappointing for the price.

The restaurant was the one letdown. My wife’s 37mil fish came as a small piece with a tiny portion of potatoes and some lettuce, like a child’s serving. My chicken portion was the same. I’d suggest driving into the town center for food. The place itself was beautiful, with a large, deep pool. The rooms were spacious, and the air conditioning, TV, and shower all worked great. Otherwise, it’s a great vacation.

The staff were very kind, and the facilities were great for kids and relaxing by the pool. The pool and free bicycles were fun, too. My standard room would fit a family of three well, with good beds and a very nice bathroom. Overall, the experience was great, so I’d give it four stars. Some things could use attention: the room furniture and towels looked old, the TV was too small for these days, and the pool and ping-pong table could use a little maintenance. The restaurant fans need fixing to cut down on flies. The food could be improved, though the portions were good for me.
