Hotel Porton del Sol

My wife and I stayed in room 48 on June 2, 2024. For the price, the room was okay but nothing special. At midnight, shouting and Reggaeton from a party woke us up. The front desk said they couldn't do anything because they have no control over noise from neighboring fincas. We lay there listening for another 30 minutes, then got dressed and checked, because the party sounded closer than the neighboring finca. Sure enough, it was in room 44 below us. We had to go to the desk and get the night manager to investigate. Why didn't you believe us when we called? Really annoying. The shower had no hot water. The pools were fine, but poolside service wasn't good enough for such an expensive place. We waited 30 minutes for drinks, then had to ask the bartender where they were. Food was marginal at best: the chicken was overcooked, dry, and hard to choke down, and the pork wasn't good either. There were flies everywhere. Yuck! Checkout was the worst part. We owed money for drinks and meals, but they had no dataphone to charge a card. We tried transferring the funds with Bancolombia, but the data and internet were so bad the transfer wouldn't work. The WiFi was even worse, so neither option worked. Staff told us to drive to Santa Fe, find an ATM, get cash, and come back. Santa Fe is a 14-minute drive from Hotel Portón del Sol, and the round trip plus finding an ATM took more than 30 minutes. To make sure we didn't leave without paying, they kept my wife's cell phone as collateral while we went for cash. I offered to transfer the money when I got home, where the internet actually works, but they wouldn't consider it. I said I'd tell my friends about the awful experience. They didn't care. I told the woman checking us out that sometimes you need to trust your customer. This place sucks, and I'll NEVER return. I'll write this review and tell everyone I know. Was losing me as a customer, and countless others, really worth 158,000 pesos? I would've transferred it to them two hours later. If the answer is yes, I can't help you.

A really nice place to relax with family. The food is good, and the pool activities are great for the kids. The showers don't have hot water, though they say they're going to install it. Definitely a place to visit.

We drove up from Medellín for a day pass in the sun and were turned away at the gate because we got there after noon. Apparently arriving later isn't allowed. Terrible service, and really disappointing.

Loved the vibe at Santa Fe de Antíoquia, and the food and drinks were great too. Had a great time, and I'll definitely be back!
