La Selva Hotel San Jeronimo

The rooms and green areas were lovely, but the service, especially around meals, was terrible. Our New Year's package was meant to come with a toast and grapes, and neither was provided. At dinner, there wasn't much food service to begin with, and some families were told it had closed when they got to the dining room. That set off frustration and tension among the people already eating. They eventually reopened it, but the damage was done. This shouldn't happen to hotel guests who've paid for the experience. Lunch the next day was a very basic stew that we couldn't finish. We had high hopes after the special offer, but our New Year's stay was a real disappointment.

I went during the week, so it was peaceful and affordable. The pool is beautiful, the jacuzzi is fantastic, and there's a pool table and board games to keep you busy. Rooms are roomy and the beds are really nice. I would've liked a TV, fridge, chairs, and a little table in the room. Otherwise it was a good hotel. Food options are limited, and restaurant service starts late. Also, if you bring your own food or drinks, you have to eat or drink them in your room.

While we were asleep, someone got into our room and stole our phones, money, sneakers, clothes, and a purse. It was a horrible experience. The hotel has no security cameras, and the owner won't take responsibility for security or for what was stolen. They don't have insurance either. They need to put money into keeping both guests and staff safe.

We made the reservation a month ahead, then arrived with the whole family only to hear it wasn't in their system. They said they'd refund us, and did just that. DON'T TRUST THEM! They don't honor bookings.
