We spent plenty of time just relaxing at Hotel San Rafael, with my family in the pool and me in the reading room. The hotel backs onto the river, so there are beautiful views and walks, and everything in town is within walking distance. The rooms were clean and the staff super friendly and accommodating. My family and I had a wonderful time, and we’ll definitely stay here again.

A great find, with a reading room, pool, river-facing lounge, and comfortable rooms for relaxing. The rooms are extremely comfortable, and everyone here is friendly and helpful. Most places are right in the middle of town life, which is still quiet enough to enjoy. All the sights are walkable, but be mindful of the blistering midday heat. They can help arrange tours, so ask the friendly receptionist and enjoy discovering Mompox.

I visited San Rafael recently with my fiancée. The staff arranged a city tour with an excellent guide, plus a trip along the Magdalena River. The only suggestion I have is to read Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Cronicle of a Death Foretold beforehand, so you can take in the town on a deeper level. The townsfolk love talking about how their particular houses are mentioned in the book, so be advised. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable, and the floor to ceiling bathrooms with skylights made for amazing showers by day or night.

Absolutely beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous, Maria, Mariella, and the female receptionist were so lovely, and you couldn't ask for a better location.
