Casa Bonita en Santa Marta

Mrs. Claudina, who runs the place, is kind, caring, and attentive. The property is fully fenced, so security feels very good, and the neighborhood is quiet. They have water problems, but she keeps water available for guests. If the power goes out, though, you have to wait for it to return since there’s no generator. The access is awkward. The place is hard to spot and find, down an alley on a boulevard corner. The terrace has a jacuzzi, barbecue area, and kitchen for guests, but the kitchen didn’t look very clean and the jacuzzi doesn’t get much use because of the water issues. It’s really a house with several rooms, so I’d call it a guesthouse or hostel rather than a hotel. My room had a small double bed that could fit two, but not comfortably. The bathroom needed work for both cleanliness and infrastructure. There was a small fridge, a TV with only six channels, and air conditioning. I found no soap or towels, and only a nearly finished roll of toilet paper. Luckily, I had brought my own things. The room cost was affordable, so it could do for work or one night, but personally I wouldn’t recommend staying longer. They also have water problems, but Mrs. Claudina keeps water on hand for guests.

Booking the place was a real hassle. The jacuzzi didn’t work, the showers didn’t have enough water, and there was no daily cleaning or supplies for it. The room kitchen was very dirty. Doña Claudina was friendly, but only some of the time.

We were really looked after by Mrs. Claudia, and the service was excellent. It’s a lovely, pleasant place and we’d definitely stay again. It’s a bit far from the tourist spots, but we were after some peace and quiet 😊!

It’s a nice, clean place, though quite far from the tourist areas. They also advertise a jacuzzi, but it doesn’t work.
