Casa Verano Beach Hotel - Adults Only

We were glad we chose this lovely little hotel outside Santa Marta, just a short taxi ride away. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, and the room was always clean and comfortable. AC and the shower worked well. Breakfast in the garden was delicious, and when we had early starts the kitchen kindly packed coffee and a breakfast sandwich to go. Bring bug spray, though, because the mosquitos enjoy the garden too. The back of the property opens onto the beach, where we enjoyed sunsets alongside local people unwinding there. Our room looked out on a stairwell and parking lot, unlike the garden and ocean views mentioned in some reviews. It wasn't really a problem since we spent so little time inside. We appreciated that, like many hotels in Colombia, Casa Verano has gone green and stopped using individual mini plastic toiletry bottles or straws, gracias! One suggestion: in this hot weather, housekeeping could skip the heavy Euro-style duvets and use lighter covers. The staff were friendly and helpful. They arranged drivers for our trips to Tayrona Parque and to Aracataca to see the lovely Casa de GGMarquez museo. The staff are the real stars here. Every team member was friendly, kind, helpful, and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The grounds and rooms were impeccable, and the food and drinks were fantastic. My favorite place to stay in Santa Marta. If I could give it a higher score or move in, I would. It's right on the beach, with a beautiful pool, lounge area, and green space.

The rooms are a little dated, but very comfortable. We had a great bed, perfectly working AC, good shower pressure, and a reasonably priced minibar. Some rooms have ocean views, and hearing the waves at night is an amazing touch. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with fresh fruit, good coffee, juice, and a choice of eggs and starch. There's another restaurant a short walk away for more variety, and the main town is about 20 minutes by taxi. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The backyard and pool area are divine, with palm trees, wooden furniture, a Jacuzzi, and cozy hammocks. It feels like a little retreat from town, where you can lounge by the pool with food and drinks. Casa Verano Hotel is tucked away in a quiet part of Santa Marta, with a beautiful private beach right behind it, a big step up from the crowded public beaches elsewhere. The water is a bit cloudy, but the beach is clean and serene, with stunning views. We'll definitely be back. It's a gem if you're looking for peace, comfort, and a touch of luxury by the sea.

Small and intimate, with a really friendly staff and a very romantic setting. I've stayed in five star hotels in Santa Marta & Barranquilla, and this place put them to shame. When I visit the Colombian coast again, this is where I want to stay. I came back to Casa Verano in May, 2025 and had just as amazing a time as in January. I hope not too many people read this, or the 14 rooms will always be sold out when I want to return.
