We stayed at Aurora Hostal in Taganga, Santa Marta, Colombia, just two minutes from the beach. The staff were friendly and attentive, and breakfast was included from 7:30 AM to 9 AM. We missed breakfast one day because we left at 7 AM. The next day my husband asked to add sausages to breakfast, and staff said there'd be an extra charge. We agreed, but at checkout he asked the young man to offset that charge against the breakfast we hadn't had when we left early. The young man called the hotel manager, who said they couldn't do that. We paid the 3,000 pesos extra for breakfast as well as for the breakfast we never ate. My husband joked about the rats of the Seine River in Paris. The manager's handling of it left a lot to be desired, so I wanted to share this small but thought-provoking example of hotel service.

The photos don't seem to match the place. Depending on the room, there was barely any water pressure or no water at all. We had to leave a night early, and they refused to give any kind of refund.

I was there for seven days. It's a little removed from everything, so it was probably quieter than most places. The breakfast menu wasn't big, but the food was good. Wi-Fi in my room stopped working and stayed down for three days. Nobody seemed to care about fixing it, and it still wasn't working when I left. You could connect from the lobby, though.

Rosa, Luis, and Frank are the sweetest and were always around if I needed anything. I felt at home here. It's such a beautiful, peaceful hostal, and everything is clean and well cared for. There's a nice pool, an outdoor eating area, and hammocks downstairs and on a higher terrace with sea views. And, really important, the bedrooms have air conditioning.

The breakfast was yum, and there's a nice pool and secure parking. Bars and restaurants are only a couple of minutes away on foot.
