Hostal Santa Marta Magica

The streets around the place flood whenever it rains, even when the rain is light. Rain also brought frequent water cuts during my stay. I was told that, under municipal rules, water goes to the more touristy areas when the city has a shortage. The place itself is peaceful, and the staff are warm and welcoming. It isn't in the main tourist area, but transport links are good and getting around is easy.

The room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet, and the service and advice about things to do were excellent. It's an affordable, safe choice in central Santa Marta, close to historic sites, restaurants, bars, a pharmacy, and a bakery. It also works well for getting transport to the beaches, bus terminal, airport, and other places. There’s no pool or common area. I’d suggest letting guests know where their room is when they book and checking whether stairs might be difficult for them.

Getting around was easy: buses for the airport stop right outside, including one that drops you at the airport, and there are buses to Rodadero for just 2,000 pesos. The airport is under an hour away. The beach, shopping centers, supermarkets, pharmacies, and restaurants are all close too. Inside, it was quiet and very clean, with spacious, tidy rooms and good air conditioning. The receptionist and kitchen staff were both really attentive.

They kept my bags for the two days I was away in Tayrona, which was a big help. The place is affordable and well located near Parque de los Novios and the beach. We loved our stay, the service was excellent, and I'd definitely recommend it.
