Hotel Casa Barlovento

The landscape was breathtaking, like paradise, and the location is stunning. The price felt high for Colombia, especially since the pool area could use some TLC. I gave it 3 stars because I also felt uneasy about the property's security. While I was there, a guest on the first floor said some money had gone missing from his room while he was at the pool. The hotel showed security footage of someone entering the room. Police came the next day and suggested it might have been an employee from one of the three hotels in the gated area. If it was a thief, why take only some of the money and not all of it? That whole situation made me feel really insecure.

The food was delicious, and the staff made sure we were looked after. Our room had good mod cons, but there was no WiFi. We loved the views and the pool was a perfect temperature. The hotel is well placed, with access to a private beach near a river outlet. We only stayed one night and wished we'd booked longer.

My AirPods were stolen from my room, so I told the hotel staff they were missing. Weeks later, the Find My app showed someone at the hotel using them. I complained to the administrator, ‘Herol’. He said he'd found the AirPods and worked out which staff member was using them. According to him, the person who took them no longer worked there, but had passed them to another staff member. I called a week ago, and that person is still using them. Harol won't let me speak with the owner.

The rooms are decent, but the food takes forever to arrive. Before we got there, the person handling things was very attentive on WhatsApp and seemed ready to help with everything. Once we arrived, though, everyone seemed disconnected and extremely disinterested. Worst service ever. I'd give this two stars at best.
