It’s a quaint, clean place with very good service. Some staff are quite young, but they’re respectful and attentive. The rooms have air conditioning. There isn’t much room for large luggage.

Hotel Gairaca Real was a very affordable place to relax in a great atmosphere, and I saved a lot on my vacation. The nearby beaches were the best part for me: Pozos Colorados, Bello Horizonte, Cabo Tortuga, and Sierra Laguna are great. The beaches in El Rodadero are very popular and have even become unsafe. I think this is the best option in Santa Marta. Don’t pay more at other hotels for the same service.

We booked through Airbnb and had already paid for this place, but on arrival they said there wasn’t enough space for our whole group and wanted to send us to other apartments. In the end, they put us in three rooms and added extra buckets so we could all fit. Each room had its own bathroom, and breakfast was included, just some eggs and three rolls. The staff were friendly.

The cook made excellent food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and someone was there all day and night. It’s set back from the main road but still right on it, so getting a bus or taxi anywhere is easy. It’s a welcoming place, and they give you directions for tours and explain how much they cost and how to get there.

There were so many ants and cockroaches that we had to run out. It was a nice place otherwise, and if you’re looking for a good night’s sleep, you can get one there. The owner is incredibly kind.
