Hotel Irotama Bungalows & Bohios

The setting is excellent, with a beautiful beach and pleasant pool areas, and the staff are very friendly. We spent 4 nights in a bungalow, where the rooms were clean and decent. The bohios look cozier to me, and have a private terrace and sea view, so I’d choose one of those instead. Service was slow because the resort seemed understaffed. Food orders at breakfast and dinner often took more than 30 minutes, and the WiFi kept dropping out, probably because too many people were using it. The food is expensive and nothing special. After finding the shopping mall area a 10-minute walk away, with excellent restaurants, we didn’t eat at the resort again. I highly recommend Lulo restaurant for its Colombian fusion dishes. For somewhere advertising itself as five-star, the experience felt closer to three-star to me.

I went with my whole family in June of 2025, and we had such a great time. The food and nightly entertainment were great, and there was no need to leave the resort. The service was great too. Can’t wait to come back to Irotama bungalows!

The rooms were smaller than they looked in the photos, and what a shame. The place felt like an upgraded campsite more than a resort, with nighttime noise like a campsite too. Prices were exorbitant for very low-quality service, and they added charges for things that didn’t even exist, like towels. We had to fight for everything, and the staff showed absolutely no understanding. This hotel is a rip-off.

The buffet had really good choices, and the local dishes were consistently delicious. The large pool was very clean, though there was hardly any shade. The beach wasn’t especially appealing, and the vendors were quite persistent. The modern bungalows are clean and well maintained, set somewhere quiet and green, but there’s no beach view. Staff were always attentive, rooms got cleaned daily, and the property was in great shape. Thanks especially to Anthony at the buffet, who puts his heart into serving us and does his best to communicate in English. I wish him all the best for the future. It’s strange that at a resort this size almost nobody speaks English, not even at reception.
